Default Whats the deal?

Well took my truck into the dealership to get some warranty work done and asked them to reprogram the automatic locks. So that it locks in drive and unlocks when you put it in park. The service tech told the rep that it can't be changed?!?!?

I've read many threads on this and its my understading that the 99's the dealership had to do this, while the newer ones you can do yourself. Does anyone know the actually truth on this?

From what I gather, the dealership should be able to make the changes just not me.
But they are telling me they can't for some reason.

The dealership can make the changes. The only down side is that on the 99's the only door lock options where to lock at 15mph or not lock at all.

Ahh, that makes more sense then cause I only wanted to change it to unlock when I put it in park.

So then could I just swap out the BCM for a newer one to get those features?

On my 2000 I was able to program the locks. I like to be able to open my door when I want
