Default Best for removing dried up tar stuff?

Whoever owned this truck before must have taking it through some asphalt paving. What is the best way of removing this stuff? It's dried up and plain ol' bug and tar remover doesn't work. Is engine degreaser safe on a clearcoat or is that just asking for trouble?

try deisel fuel and a terry cloth rag. when we use to pave in my last job we use to use it to clean the trucks up when we were done. we had a kid at the shop used i belive something called royal purple to clean the tar off from inside on the seats door handles everything.
just remember to WAX!!! the hell out of it when your done

good luck

Varsol or paint thinner will do the job. Wax after.

Castrol Super Clean - not the best for your paint, but when used properly it works great.
