ya, you think you cleaned everything, then as the water streams down the side and hte truck and dries, it leaves salt behind.

my speed grille rusts every winter due to the salt and water

Man, I hear that. Can't seem to get away from the stuff either...hasn't snowed here in 2 weeks and the roads are still white from salt.
