Am I crazy? Complete interior color change/swap
#1
I've got the neutral/tan interior in my '01 Yukon XL, but I'm dying to get the dark charcoal in there.
Am I crazy to want to do this? I'm in no hurry, so it's OK if I have to piece some of it together. I think I'd probably have somebody recover the leather (I've got an LT) instead of worrying about finding/trading/selling my current stuff. I'd probably get the headliner locally.
Yeah, I know I'm a little crazy anyhow, but I just couldn't find the dark interior anywhere when I was looking for this truck.
Thanks,
Michael

Well, for what it's worth I've thought about doing the exact same thing...but I've got a regular cab with cloth seats so it would be less of a project for me. Who cares if other people think it's crazy? It's your ride; if it doesn't exactly suit you, modify it!

Yea man, I don't think it's crazy...you want it the way you want it, and that's cool. I did the same thing with my 71 Camaro years ago...changed the whole interior from blue to black, piece by piece. Gives you an excuse to make trips to swap meets.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the moral support.
I made a call after I posted and I just scored an entire Suburban interior (no seats), less one door panel, the passenger airbag, and center console, for $450. I'm playing Lotto tomorrow!
That door panel and airbag will probably cost me $1,000

Greggo, I've got to look into that. I've read some posts, but it seems like there's different "trim levels" and stuff like that. I've got to figure out what I'll be happier with: trying to find factory seats to buy/trade/sell or having my seats re-covered. I want that "new leather smell"...hehe
Hey Slammed, I figured I wasn't forging any new ground. I'm actually kinda glad to see I'm not the only one who's done/doing this.

Instead of replacing all your pieces, you can try to dye them. Ive seen this done before and it looked pretty damn good to me. Katzkins are by far superior to the factory leather, I hope to upgrade to them sometime

Not that we all aren't, but that sounds like a TON of work. You're talking about the dash and all I presume?? Carpet, headliner, door panels, dash, seats, console, etc. ??? Are you serious?
