Default 05 HD hood conversion update!!!

To my 03 SS...anyone else done this yet or will I actually be the first at something? I ordered the parts and am scheduled for paint next weekend. I dont have a digicam so there wont be pics. I couldnt wait to tell everyone tho....and i figured since i cant post pics it will just tease you all the more.

Im having them sand off the chrome plating on the plastic grille and paint it all black to match, and gonna paint the honeycomb flat grey also.

So you are replacing the Hood and going with the grille as well to clear the new HD hood. The fenders should be the same and the bumper cover should clear, Right?

yep, just hood, grille, and hood latch. hinges in the rear are the same which saves 56 bucks a side. without any discounts the hood is 460, grille is 350, and i think the latch was around 40 bucks. bumper should clear just fine, the only thing that worries me are the headlights which according to part numbers fit 05 only but i did a good visual inspection and couldnt find any differences. cant wait to see what it looks like. I hate that pic of the 05 that you posted, it doesnt do the truck justice i dont think. but thanks for putting those up!

anyone in my area with a digicam willing to help me?

the rad supports share the same exact part number and the headlights seem to be the same upon visual inspection but do have different numbers. I assumed the fenders are the same and the hood lift springs and hinge plates in the rear def are the same so that leaves me with purchasing these....

05 HD hood- 460
05 HD grille- 350
05 HD hood latch- 40

thats what i got and around what i paid. i dont have any friends in shops that coulda helped me out on the prices but hey....ill let the pics speak for themselves when i get the truck back

upon further investigation it looks like i may be able to also use the stock ss grille with some modification to the upper corners. it would look alot more solid i think because the exact coloring of the stock mesh and the style of grille itself staying on the truck instead of trying to reproduce the look with the new grille...

just got word parts will be in for test fit tomorrow!

edit:a lady at work here said she will take digi pics of it for me! should have pics thursday possibly!
