well i just got a b&m trans pak, so it can hold up the nitrous i just bought  . so i went to like 5-6 transmission shops yesterday and most said they dont do shift kits, 2 guys started questioning why i want that in a new truck, they were like "you can shift harder with a programer i don't understand". i told them it was because i want it to hold up to the added power. he told me the shift kit won't help, if anything it will make it worse. I've been getting this kinda crap all week. Is there any reason why nobody wants to install this? and how hard is it to install myself?

Do not let these guys work on your truck! Keep shopping around for someone who speaks "GM truck" and let them do the work. You will come out ahead in the end.

I am in the same situation where I live. I'll have to travel 300 miles for tranny work and 120 miles for motor work. Inconvenient yes, but worth the trouble. Good luck!

It is not that hard to install. Where in SOCAL are you?

im near long beach, thats the weird part this is suppose to be THE place for mods. but i guess only for muscle cars and stuff.

its a rainny day so no work, today would be a good time to attempt it. but i'd like to get the nitrous working ( got most of it done last night but i started late)

Thats strange....it is a pretty simple install (for a trans shop) Do you have your truck here? Take a cruise out here on Sunday if you want....that is if its not raining....

shops i talked to told me they wont do it because of liability issues or some crap like that and that they couldnt warranty it. also, i was told that if you do the shift kit it will cause the tranny to go sooner IF...you dont get the torque management adjusted/programmed out.

if a shift kit is installed properly then it will last. the hard part is getting it installed correctly. the thing that makes them go out faster is tht then you will want to get 1-2 scratches all the time and keep the ol foot buried in the floor. one washer is all you will need. at 1/4 throttle it should shift preety nice. 1/2 to 3/4 throttle it should bark the tires. at full throttle it should bark them pretty good.

for those that are looking for a performance type transmission shoppe in southern california,,,,look at a place called "the toy shoppe",,,this place specializes in performance trans/rear end work. 1700.00 performance rebuild with two year unlimited mileage warranty,,i asked the guy if i stick nitrous on it does he warranty it,,he said he didnt care what i put on the truck,,if it breaks, bring it back,no questions asked,,,,mine will be gettin this rebuild early january. by the way, they have been in business for like 12 years or something like that,,,have a great day guys.
