Does anyone know exactly what this means?
NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH: All vehicles must be equipped with an operational neutral safety switch.

I'm not postive, but in a boat a neutral safety switch is a switch that prevents the engine from being started while in gear. Probably the same thing. Just my guess.

You are correct. all automatic vehicles have what you call a neutral safety switch which allows the vehicle to only start in park or neutral. kinda like a manual where you can only start the vehicle with the clutch pushed in. My freind had a older third gen camaro and he had it set up where you did not have to have the clutch pushed in to start it. Well one friends that is a moron decided to show everyone how mean this car was. Reached inside the door bumped the key (with the car still being in gear), and it started right up all halled ass towards the tool box. that sucx

My 88 GMC- didn't
I think the 88-92's didn't have them.
Not 100%, but when installing a remote starter, the directions mentioned how to make one, I just ignored it and rememberd to put it in park when parked :twak:
