Well it seems we are all on the same page, my local stereo shop and I.

Apparantly since they are not a Phoenix Gold Dealer they were having some trouble getting a PLD6 in. So they ordered a Pac-Audio SNI-1 instead(can anyone speak to the quality of this unit?). They have an extra JL 300/4 and Eclipse AVN2454 in case they need to swap them out. I told them that several people have informed me as to a line driver filter's and/or booster's ability to correct the noise issue. They told me that they are not sure if that is the problem either but want it there in case it is......when they open the truck back up.

I got an estimate from my local Chevy Dealership for $860 in paint repairs only.

They are having an interior guy come down one day to take care of all plastic/vinyl scrapes and gouges while in the shop.

The lead installer got "written up" for turning over a vehicle in that condition and apparently the owner has told them to "take care of the customer and do whatever will make him(me) happy". But then of course I was also told that they "installed the gear for much less than they should have", to the tune of $2800. Well OK, we agreed on a price, so I'm not sure what that was for?

At this point I am satisfied with where we are at. They've agreed to get the paint repairs done and the interior repairs done and as of this morning told me "it will leave with no noise" However, it has taken alot of attention and stress on my part to get to this point. Their idea of keeping the customer informed and service in general I would rate poor. Hopefully it will get better. I am willing to give them another chance, but thats it! one more only.

My advice for those in CA, when purchasing services and parts from a company, i.e. a contractor. First, make sure their business liscense is on the business card. Second, check with the CA state board as to its validity and with the BBB as to their standing. Third, once a price is agreed upon FOLLOW THE CA LAW, only leave a 10% deposit on the job. DO NOT let "work completed" payments exceed actual work completed AND do not pay labor (i.e. final payment) until everything is right!

this is a lesson I've had to re-learn!!

thoughts?

peace out. :drive:

agreed, it def sucks to be in my shoes right now.

I hope they follow through with what we've discussed. Essentially we are in the same place in terms of action, we will see.

PAC stuff is pretty good man, most things like that are not made by the people you think, it just has there name on it. things like subs, there are only about 5 companies in the world who actually make their own speakers so go figure. sorry to hear about your misfortune with them. i was in the stereo biz for about 8 years and i have seen alot of that type of stuff so dont feel like you are being singled out. just make sure you keep in good contact with them and let them see your face quite often during the repair process so they dont conveniently forget about it

no, I don't have to pay anymore. I just should have NOT paid upfront for everything was my point.

well bro, like I said, only promises so far, no action, so hopefully they follow through.
to be honest, I hate dealing with this kind of shit!
How long has the Radix been sitting around now? I'm going to have to soke the rotors with marvel mystery oil soon!
hahaha j/k!

6 1/2 weeks since his operation, still on tanqualizers when he thinks its time to play though. Ozzy should be back in action soon and thanks for asking B!

FYI, I took off a door panel tonight to take a looksy at thier work.
hmmm, I was quite certain before applying dynamat one was supposed to clean the panel (i.e. prep). But what the hell, why do it right.

the more I look, the more I don't want too.

Well, glad they are at least trying to work out a solution.

Yuck. That's the kind of stuff that makes me drive to Arizona for engine work and Anaheim for suspension work. Still haven't found who in SD to install a shift kit and converter into my new 4L65, and swap out my old 4L60.

About that 10% down - does that apply to just stereo equipment, or everything in CA?

Yes, any contracted work.

That looks like construction only, though maybe I'm reading it wrong.

the car audio liscense falls under these guidelines.

Also it is the reference for contracted work in CA. I had to hire a lawyer to write a letter on my behalf when I ordered some roman shades for some windows when they hung sideways, Anyway, the 10% down was one of the stressed points.

I won't say I am 100% sure this applies to all cases, but I'm pretty sure these guidelines trandsend construction type stuff.
