Ok guys, I have gone thru the calender, and have picked July 11, for the next GTG.
I have checked the track to make sure it is open, and everything is cool.
Let me know if meeting at the same place is good or if somewhere else needs to be looked at.
also please post to let me know how many will be attending.
I will also be inviting the Dogde boys to come out and maybe have a friendly grudge match or 2.
hope to see a few more new faces, and to see the regulars also.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us this time and not scare people from coming out.
If you miss this one dont worry, I am going to try to do this every month, or every 2 months, what ever works out best.

Well the monument, is the San Jacinto Monument/Battleship grounds....
Its also a park and has some picnic areas.

Tom Bass is a park only that has more pavillions, more parking, and its a place we havent had a problem getting everyone parked in and settled in nicely.

could i have the address of tom bass park. or perhaps directions to it from oo lets say 249 and 1960?

from houston take 288 south and exit beltway 8, go north under 288 and the entrance to Tom Bass park is about 3/4 of a mile down the feeder road from 288.

ya it was fun going to the track. We had about 10 or more trucks racing all the way to HRP.

take 59 into Houston, it will split right after you pass thru town. stay in the left hand lane, this will turn into 288. take this past 610, and a few more miles down( say about 10 min give or take a few min) you will come up on Beltway 8. exit and go under 288 to your left. stay on the feeder road, and the entance is gonna be on your left about a 1/2 mile down.

I would say the Beltway would be easier to get there than , going thru town.
you would just have to exit after the toll booths, right before 288. then go under 288, and pick up there where I gave directions earlier.

this is up to you guys, if yall want to grill, then you will need to bring it. If I remember correctly Tom Bass Park does have grills near the pavillions.

hey thunder how do you get there from deer park

take the beltway south,
exit 288
use the U-turn before crossing under 288.
once you are on the feeder road heading north get in the right hand lane and you will see a sign about 1/4 to a 1/2 mile down the raod that says Tom Bass Park, inter there. we will be most likely try to be in the same place as last time. all the way in the back towards the left. just keep looking for all the trucks. :)

Where do they do any street racing anymore? I used to go out to Goodnite Trail over by the Airport (bush) when I had my z28.....saw some bad ass races there after the kiddies went away to go to bed. Have to wait till about 3 or 4 in the AM and them boys pull the cars off trailers and run.

dont know any where like that now, after they started cracking down on the racing here in texas, it kinda dried up. on this side of town. Everytime you find a spot to hang out. then the IDIOTS ind you and come in and start doing donuts in the parking lot and messing things up. then the owners call the Police and they run you off. Bad thing is the police group everybody together. If one person acts like a dumba$$, then they figure we all are the problem.

Yes it's going to be at BAytown for the Racing.
there will be a GTG At Tom Bass Park, starting at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
July 11.
we will meet at the park and B.S. with everyone, and check out everyones trucks, and put names with faces.
oh and eat lunch too. you can bring fast food or sign up to bring some items to help those that will be cooking at the park.
then around 3:30 we will be heading out to HRP. Gates open at 4:00Pm, and the track closes at 10Pm. I will be trying to post a map here soon of how to get to Tom Bass Park. If you have anymore questions, shoot me a pm, oe email me @ lovercheck@earthlink.net

If Speed Engineering and/or Magnacharger hadn't screwed up my Radix order bigtime, I'd have it all installed and running good already. But it looks like I wont even get the kit until later this week (4 weeks after I ordered it), and I need to install it asap to get Allen the pcm core back. Also, I have a wedding to go to on Sat the 10th :bang: - soooo unless I can get it put in friday night+sunday morning, I wont be able to make the meet.

I was really looking forward to it, but I guess everything cant always go as planned. :barf:

I will post on here the progress of the install next weekend - there is a chance I might still make it

Wait till monday to put it on. A meet doesnt come around every weekend and you could put to supercharger on later. I say come out and hold off another day on the supercharger.

I would but I really need to get the blower tune pcm in asap so I can get the core back to allen and to get the line pressure down b/c of the transgo.

just hold your brake unitll the light turns green. you'll get a flash of a yellow light. when you see that hit the gas. by the time the truck starts to move the green light will come on and then it's balls to the wall :D

BAD NEWS BOYS!!! Tom Bass Park is booked up. It has been booked full for most of the summer. So you guys will have to meet in the big parkinglot next to the amplitheater. All the pavillions are booked. The guy said they stay booked in the main summer months and start taking reservations for 2005 beginning in November.

I think Hooters on Nasa 1 @ I45 south might be a good alternative. Just my 2 cents.

As far as the track goes.
It rained last time, and nobody showed up, and we wound up racing at the track anyways.
I will be checking on the weather all weekend

I'll see what I can cook up. We use to have the semi "official" meet in November, but being right around Thanksgiving, it kept a few people from coming. This year, I thought we could have a summertime get together. I'm thinking mid August to mid September. I'm also thinking of some other things.

I went to Galveston instead, we hit a few scattered showers, but it turned out to be an alright day down there afterall.

I ran a total of 7 times and had a best of 15.88@84.90, which was on my second run. I ran a couple of 16.2x's and a couple of 15.9x's. The only thing I have done to the truck is a UPD and a Superchips that is programed to the 87 tune. Maybe next time I'll have some free mods done to the truck and hopefully that will shave off some time.

Thanks again Kevin for letting my wife and daughter stay at your house while we were at the track. Both my wife and daughter had a really good time.

Hell yeah, I enjoyed it too!!! Got to finally run the truck at a track to see what it would do. I got in seven runs that started with a 15.67 and got it down to a 15.39 but had to go so I could wake up to go to work in the morning. Had a 2hr drive back to the house. I guess it wasn't too bad considering this was my first time at the track. Have to watch the video and see if I can figure out how to post some of it. Later....Zed :drive:
