Unhappy Blown Subs

My subs blew yesterday so I'm going to have to buy some more. I had 2 12" Kicker Comp Vr's with a 600 watt amp. What are some good subs? What kind of subs do y'all have and what amp are y'all using?

thats what I was think about. I was think about JLW3's and a 1500 watt amp with some 6 by 9" door speakers with some tweeters and a custom made box.

Id say 2 10" JL W6V2's. Badass subs but not the cheapest. Then some Focal compnents. Maybe run a dead-head, get some good coax run through there.

Eloborate on how you blew those Kicker comp vr. Those subs are great for the money. Try some kicker L7's.

I have one 12W3v2 JL off a 500/1 amp...sound is great. Not too much bass (I've got the gain like 2/3 up and the Boost off) but it's got the ability for great SQ for the funds.

When I get that 2500HD CC I'll have to go through my setup again. I'd prolly go with a pair of 12W6v2's running off a JL 1000/1 amp.

The rest will be the same HU (7998 Alpine) and front 3 ways (JL XR-653CSi)...adding a set of XR-650CSi for the rear doors, a pair of 300/2 amps for the power of the doors. Should be a nice, clean, loud setup. I may get silly and add some screens "bling-bling foo'" lol and stuff.

My question is what amp are you running?

People scare me when they say I'vce got XX subs (a typical 300w rms sub) then they say, I'm powering it with a 1500watt amp. Generally the 1500watt amp they are talking about is some cheap $280 Crutchfield or Sony, Kenwood, Rockford Punch crap amp that would only put out 1500watts if lighting struck it and god touched it with his magical powers. And they wonder why they blew them up LOL.

If you just want it loud at upper requencies then I say stick with the Kickers. They are decently loud for the money. If you want better sound quality and low end extention then go to JL Audio. Great subs for the money. Another one that is really good for a wide variety of mucis and sounds WAAY better than the Kickers are the Eclipse Aluminum series subs which pop out at $369/per 12". They handle 500w rms/ea.

The biggest thing to remember is you are going to spend about $.75 to $1.00 per watt. If you wanna play with the big boys and get 2 subs that handle 1000watts the you better expect to pay at least $700+ for that TRUE 1000watt amp. None of that MAX POWER at 14.7 volts @ 100hz bullshit that a lot of brands true to confuse people with.

I've got an Alpine Type-R that sounds damn good. Wasn't too expensive either, less that $150. JL is pretty good, but a lot of other companies make good subs. Just make sure your airspace is right and they'll thump!

How old were the Kickers? I've got a pair of 12's that are being pushed with a Kicker 600.1 amp. They have been running off of that amp for a while now too. Kicker rated it at 700watts on the sheet thingy. I know it sounds damn good to me and is plenty loud for what I want to do with it. I know it will sound like it's clipping in the truck before it actually does. WHen it gets like that you can stand at the door and you can feel it vibrating you with minimal distortion.
