View Full Version : Spring Break Shootout! Countdown.....

Okay truck racers. I promised you guys a chance to have your very own bracket racing event at this year's Spring Break Shootout on March 14th. In order to justify this, I'll need two things:

1. A sponsor to kick in $500 towards payout
2. 16 prepaid truck entries @ $45 each

I'm still trying to get a few more sponsors for the other classes, so I need YOUR help to make this happen. Please post here if you would be willing to prepay (via paypal) to race, and also see if you can convince some of our sponsors to host this class.

Otherwise, the trucks will most likely run with the regular bracket class. That one might have a bigger payout due to entries, but if we have a truck class you guys can enter both of them.

HELP! :D

how about it guys is there a sponsor here that would like to do this?
Brian? Maybe someone else:)
Tony where do i send the paypal payment to :)
Let us know when your ready, I think we pretty much have got the 16 trucks taken care of. from this site and another one.

Where's Brian??? He should be all over this one!
:)

I don't think I'm gonna be able to make it as much as I want to. I am opting for a job fair down in San Antonio on the 23rd rather than racing. Maybe if I get a job I can attend more races!

Oh yea NELSON PERFORMANCE TUNE.

I don't think he's even a sponser to the site ... gets lots of recognition though. Someone that's been tuned by him and plans on being there should hit him up.

I would if I were going, since I would be at his shop before the race, but ... I won't be there.

Allen .. sorry I never gave you another phone call, but I ended up not bringing mine down. I got outvoted and shamed for even mentioning it. We were busy doing the tourist thing and apartment shoppig. I hope you weren't up there waiting on me. I am probably going to call you to set up a time around that job fair though.

01 thunder, i dont think ill be able to race due to the fact that im waiting for my wheels to sell on ebay this sunday.. if i should get my money buy monday, i could have my gears/posi by friday. then id have 1 week to install my gears/posi, cal-tracs, etc..

to race you must be able to travel.
trust me this is a close race for me.
I usually drive 12 hours or longer to go to our supermodified races. and thats pulling a 42 foot race car trailer. hell i drove for 32 hours straight driving to Tracey California. now talk about a long haul
I know its not the same racing but you get my point.
so i am jumping all over it.
its also a little diffrent than just going to the track and running the truck

UHHHH....... Dude, we are talking about the 2nd annual LS1Tech Spring Break Shootout. There will be probably 60+ cars and trucks there. This is a drag racing event, not a group get together. This is an event sponsored by the site and it's sponsors. People are coming in from all over the US for this. That's why we are not meeting in Houston. The track in San Antonio is all ours for the day and it is an organized event!

UPDATES!

FarmTruc (Nelson Performance) has agreed to sponsor the Truck Bracket class as long as we get at least 16 pre-paid entries. So, lets get started ASAP! The quicker these arrive, the sooner we will know the outcome.

Prepay via www.paypal.com if possible. The account to send the entry money to is LS1T@hotmail.com

$45

On the paypal info box, please include your full name and year/type of truck. I will put all of your names on a list so that when you show up to the gate you will not have to pay again (except for any spectators riding with you).

If you do not have a credit card or checking account to use for paypal.com, please send me a US Postal money order (made payable to Tony Whatley) to:

Tony Whatley
4807 Pin Oak Park #1704
Houston, TX 77081

I need all mailed entries received by March 10th! That means you have to mail them out by March 5th or I probably will not get it in time, and you may end up paying at the gate (I'll return your check).

Please respond here once you have sent payment, I will keep a list.

1. Jeffrey Smallen, 1981 GMC with LS1 (GMChasLS1)
2. Daniel Lovercheck 2001 4.8 Silverado (01 Thunder)

definatly to cheap, and definatly not scared of anything that's gonna be there. that's just to damn far to drive to break a rearend or tranny, plus it's damn expensive to race, now to spectate i'm guessing it will not be anywhere near $45 so it should be reasonable as far as price to get in and watch some runs.

This has to be said. Produce some timeslips Matt then talk smack. I do know what your saying about breaking parts, but I drove to Lousiana to race with a slipping tranny. You don't see me talking smack, I know I'm SLOW......this month anyway. Yes, I won't be racing. My tranny fix money is back burnner due to family oblgations. But I'm taking off work to be there. Of course if I get edit to work on this new laptop, It's possible I may get th truck in the tranny shop next week. LOL lighten up!!!!

Breaking is a risk you take. I went to the Thunder shootout knowing that my G80 probablly wasnt going to hold up but went anyway. Sure enough, it shattered into a million pieces. I was lucky enough to have a friend cover me to get it fixed so I could drive home. If everything works to my advantage, I will be making 10 hour trip under the full asumption that my tranny may go south on me. If it happens, I guess I will just be taking an extended vacation that week. Just one of those things.

Rainout date is the following weekend I believe. Just suck it up and come on down. I have to work nights that weekend and I'm going. Let's see....work 5pm to 5am Fri night, 5pm to 11 Sat + 6 hours of vacation, vacation Sun, 5pm-5am Monday night. I'm going to miss all the parties Sat night! :(

I wished I could suck it up and come down ... but I just can't afford gas for the trip, lodging or the entry fee. I will be coming down the following Sunday for a job fair that Tuesday. So far ... I think I'm gonna try and get in to see Allen Monday if I can't get the tune worked out where it idles worth a damn, job fair Tuesday, and house hunting Wed.

I need a job!

Greg, the rainout date will be no LESS than 4 weeks from the original date. If we have to postpone the event a month or more, so be it. I don't want to rush in a rain date and hurt attendance like last year.

Hey guys this is a consistancy race, stock trucks have the advantage.
I dont' think we'll get much grudge raceing, it's just one day,Qualify (dial it in) and race. I'm going to show my support,I think this class has promise,
and meet a lot of other guys that love trucks.

standard bracket racing tree and rules. Payout is 50% 1st, 25% 2nd, 12.5% each for semi-finalists. With 16 trucks, it should be approx. $420 1st, $205 2nd, $102 each for semi's

Sorry for missing this thread. I'm on the bubble right now and don't want to commit unless I'm sure I can make it. Actually, I've been doing the rain dance too. Currently have family commitments over that weekend. But I'd love to race and visit. Since its just on Sunday, I'm going to see what I can do to get down there.

I'll ban everyone here that is rain dancing if it rains on my event weekend. You do not realize how big of a pain in the ass it is to organize an event! Resceduling it would be a bigger pain in the ass.

So, I expect you guys to race in the rain damnit. :D

We need 9 more prepays, otherwise I'll just add you all into the bracket event and give the two truck trophies away to the two trucks that come closest to their dial-in without breaking out during the event.

If you don't fill the class just refund my entry fee.I'm not going to drive 12hrs to bracket race,I can do that at dozens of tracks between here and there. :disgust:
