Default cam for a 8.1

i been talking to a buddy that has a 8.1 and were trying to get an idea what cam will work well in his truck. hes planning on doing headers at the same time and then we will do a little edit tuning on it as well.

he wants a nice lope with some good power. i know alot of guys with the 4.8 and 5.3's have been trying out different cams, but will the 8.1 respond the same was as the smaller motors?

I think Tom Byrne was planning on putting one in his 2500HD, but I don't know of anyone who has actually done it.

Comp Cams is the only one that I know of who is making aftermarket cams.
