4wd truck guys what transmission?

the tration woes im having in the TA are making me wonder if i could throw a 10bolt in the front and adapt a 4wd trans for an f-body. i know its so out there its almost stupid but i was just wondering if they make 4wd 4L60 or 80's.
no flames just an innocent question.

sure they do, the 1/2 tons have a 4l60 and the 3/4 tons have a 4l80, a 4l60 from a 4wd truck would bolt right up and plug in, have fun with the rest of that project though.
by the way, i agree, traction problems suck, i am never going to build a 2wd anything

You will be adding tons more weight if you do that .. but yea, the tail shaft is actually a little different from the one in your car, and then the Tcase bolts up to the different style tail shaft, and then you have the rest!

if you were willing to use an IFS system, a VERY custom dry-sump oiling system and tubular crossmember you MAY be able to get a 4X4 system into the front-end of a TA.....finding a place for the transfer case and front driveshaft would quite a chore though

All youd have to do is get the output shaft from a 4wd 4l60E, and put it in the 2wd trans you have now, thats all you have to do to make it a 4x4 trans, and then you no longer use the tailhousing, the transfer case bolts up to wear the tailhousing originally bolted up

How could you be having that much of a traction problem with your mods???
Just get some traction devices like LCA's, WolfCraft rear sway bar and some stickier tires for the track and Drag Radials for the street. In my 00' TA had stage2 heads/cam, and a PT-4400 stall and on the street traction wasnt so bad unless you try from a dead stop. Even on the bottle traction was fine in upper 2nd gear. Do you just street race alot? That's the only reason I can see for your traction woes. Ohh, and I was lowered with 17" wheels lol

i have suspension parts on the way but when i start hooking again i will want to go with a harder hitting converter, more gear, and a big shot of nitrous. also i dont want to need slicks when i run into that subaru at a light. as for the weight i would love to add ~400lbs and be able to launch like a son-of-a-bitch. also, weight distribution shouldn't be much of a problem anymore so it wouldnt matter where i pull the weight from it would be helping tremendously
soo, does anyone know where i could find a diagram of a 4wd 4L60? also, do you guys have a slector so you can choose between 2 and 4wd? if so can you change while moving? i think this would be nice for the reduced driveline loss of 2wd during a rollrace but you can opt for the 4wd from a dig.

i like your idea but... seems to me you would have to prey much trash your entire car to do it. are you willing to cut your car up to make it work?
i beat a ton of fast cars with my heavy 4wd, cars with more hp and alot less weight, hard for them to come back from a 4+ truck hole shot!! alot of races just gave up when i got them by that much right out of the hole.

damn parish. i just checked out your truck in your sig link. that thing is NASTY. i see you have some weight reduction in there too. how much did it weigh stock and how much does it weigh now? did you ever have it dyno'd? what kind of tires and gear do you run? that thing is just awesome...
