Raylar 540 Stroker with Modified Intake Manifold - YouTube

The modified stock manifold makes 25 more peak horsepower on stock heads and the same peak torque - but with great improvements over the stock powerband.

At this point, we're completely convinced that this is the upper limit of the stock cylinder heads (even with porting) without switching seats and putting larger valves in. The stock iron heads are coming off and a set of Raylar aluminum cylinder heads will be going on the Suburban.

**On a side note, there has been some talk with Whipple Superchargers about creating a completely new 2.9L blower package for 8.1Ls on the street.. Keep your fingers crossed on this one!!

We initially asked for a 4L but the team at Whipple said there was no way it would fit under a stock hood / firewall / cowl. We'll see what ends up fitting/working in the coming months.

I vote twin turbos and the new intake.

Once i get my ls1 s10 running, back to work on the silver truck. I plan on mild port job stainless valves and bigger exhaust valves on a stock set of heads til i can buy the aluminum extreme heads from you guys. oh and 30 pounds of boost from an 85 mm turbo

I thought the silver truck was running our heads / cam etc??

30lbs of boost! Do you have the forged rotating assembly (pistons / rods / crank)? I know you already know this, but boost + cast pistons can create more problems than its worth!

Let me talk to Larry, but I'd bet if you wanted to pay the shipping, the ported stock heads off the shop Suburban could probably be yours when we put the aluminum heads on the 540. You're probably only going to get another 20-30CFM out of them, and you'll still have to have new seats / valves put into them, but at least it saves you the 10 hours of rust and misery that is grinding down stock iron heads.

You'll still need springs, roller rockers and a boost friendly cam - but you already know who has all that.

I will be in LA to pick up a car for a friend and i was debating swinging by your shop since it is only a few hours south.
