Default 8.1L StainlessWorks Headers are ordered!!!

Just wanted to get this thread started so I can document the install from beginning to end. Ordered the headers today.....here is a pic:

One odd thing I noticed when looking at one of the install pictures they sent me is the arrangement of the driver side down pipes. Look how they drop down then turn right. I had to look twice till i figured out what was going on. This pic is looking forward from under the truck with the driver side wheel on the left and passenger side wheel on the right. Is this how all the truck headers are set up? Cant wait to get this all fabed up with the electric cut-outs and true 3" duals.

Also.....do you think true 3" all the way out is enough for the blown 496? Only running about 6psi...so i was thinking 3" duals should be plenty. Going with an X-pipe muffler and a set of E-cutouts before the cats.

that is an odd set up for sure, could only be related to the space available on the drivers side to run tubing.
looks like the tranny pan is in the way
would need to see more of the chassis to know what's up.
typical is drivers side crossed behind the tranny pan and in front of tranny xmember
8.1 obviously not the same

3" duals are plenty

Never seen a set of headers turn like that before, but the 8.1 is a different animal than anything I've ever fooled with.... those primaries are a mile long bro. Looks good to me and seems to be nicely tucked up out of the way.

Since they both end up on the same side, it will be much easier to pipe your turbocharger.

So does 3" true duals all the way back through an X-pipe muffler sound reasonable? I am not making a whole lot of boost and I dont want to loos any HP. Would I be better off with a single 3.5" or dual 2.5's all the way back? Is there a way to calculate cubic inches vs. boost vs. exhaust sizing?

I think you will be fine with a x muffler. I don't think you are going to loose hp, your boosted, a big block
