8.1L factory intake mods, homebrew style?

Thanks for the compliment raylar. I am not finished yet I still need to smooth it all out that's just what I removed with my air saw.
While I got you I saw a pic of one of your engines with what apperead to be a trail blazer 90mm throttle body. I figure while I'm cutting and welding I want to modify the intake to do that. What is all involved with the swap? Obviously a wiring kit and throttle body but figured I'd ask where to source the wiring and what exactly it does, it apperead to have a box attached to it.

Copying others work didn't get me thru school, or life and it won't make me more successful. Its settled then, I'll sell my work, not give it away. No pics, flowbench or dyno results. I'll crawl back in my hole and watch. Mebbie even giggle. David Vizard told me about 25 years ago: "You will never get any knowledge from any of my articles or books that is any newer than 4 to 5 years old and hasn't been significantly improved upon, otherwise no one would have to pay me for my work." I keep forgetting that in everyday life, even though I keep it in mind when professionally writing. Thanks for the reminder. TIMINATOR

We use an LS2 Trailblazer throttle body with a ported LS1 to LS2 adapter plate to make the transition between the stock manifold and throttle body. Cutting and welding it up is WAY too much work as these adapters are cheap. We have done it for a couple customers who were doing big block swaps into old hot rods / muscle cars with limited hood clearance. Lots of welding work, big risk of the manifold warping and developing a vacuum leak. Much easier to screw the plate on and be done in 5 minutes. As for the wired box, thats an LS1/Truck to LS2 drive by wire throttle body wiring adapter. Plug it in and drive away.

So is that the x link adapter then? Is there really any benefit for a guy that just uses his truck to tow? 200 bucks for that adapter plus another 200 for the throttle body sure adds up quick

Raylar I just wanted to apologize if you feel I am stepping on your toes with posting these intake mods. That was not my intention at all. After seeing how much time and tools it takes to do these mods your price for doing them is fair. I do like to do my own mods however and I do have the tools required to do this kind of work. If I have offended you in any way please speak up and I will edit my posts.

The modified stock manifold is a great base-level intake system modification and we want to make sure its available to all 8.1L enthusiasts.
The 90mm throttle body is more of a horsepower modification and only really comes into play with engines that are running aftermarket performance parts. You can always upgrade to the 90mm throttle body when you want to make more power, but the 78mm should flow fine for a truck that only sees towing.
